Trading a Green Lawn for another kind of Green

Times are tough- money is in short supply. As we know all too well, so is water during dry seasons. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power is now offering cash incentive for residents to replace their thirsty turf with eco-friendly native species or permeable surfaces like flagstone, brick or gavel. The rebate is $1 per square foot of turf replaced, up to $2,000. More details on the program can be found HERE.

So what do you think? Would you get rid of your turf for the extra cash?

Fertilizer Ban

Summer is fast approaching and it's time to fertilize! Did you know that the Pinellas Commission recently passed a ban on the sale of nitrogen or phosphate based fertilizer from June through September, or anytime we have severe storms or flooding? As May comes to a close, it's time to apply those nutrients your lawn desperately needs before June rolls around and applying those products becomes illegal.

You can read more about the ban at the St. Petersburg Times Website.

What do you think? How will the ban impact you?
